Join Colorado Senior Lobby on Monday, January 27, 2020 for “A Capitol Affair”. This is a day under the dome for learning about aging issues and how to be an advocate.
“A Capitol Affair” will be held at the Colorado State Capitol located at 200 E. Colfax Avenue in Denver. This event will focus on legislative initiatives affecting older adults in the 2020 General Assembly and the importance of citizen involvement with legislative matters.
The event has two parts – the morning session starts with a continental breakfast from 8:00AM to 9:00AM. Legislators and their staff will be invited to join us. From 9AM to 11:30AM our program will feature presentations by legislators, the Governor Jared Polis (confirmation pending), Lt. Governor Primavera (confirmation pending), and advocacy specialists. Topics will include 2020 legislative Initiatives, opportunities for citizen involvement, tips and tricks for advocating and facilitated conversations.
From 11:30AM to 12:15PM we are having a mix and mingle over lunch. You are encouraged to bring your own lunch and we will eat together and review what we saw and heard in the morning session.
After lunch from 12:15PM to 3:00PM, we will have CSL volunteers leading activities in the Capitol such as meeting with legislators, attending legislative hearings that are scheduled for the day, or an in-depth tour of the Capitol. There is also an option to register with the State as a Volunteer Lobbyist. At the end of “A Capitol Affair”, you will know your way around the Capitol!
